The true spirit of rebellion is to demand happiness here, in this life.
The set design for Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts is inspired by the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Each mental state is represented by a different arrangement of windows. The stage becomes a visual reflection of the characters' inner experiences.

In this project, I wanted to represent the internal transformation of the characters and the disintegration of their reality. The actors are surrounded by a circle of tall windows. During the performance, the curtains are opened and the windows are shattered.

This project was awarded at the international design competition "Vectorworks Design Scholarship" in the category "stage technology".
“I am half inclined to think we are all ghosts…
It is not only what we have inherited from our father and mother that haunts us.
It is all sorts of dead ideas, and lifeless old beliefs, and so forth.
They have no vitality, but they cling to us all the same, and we cannot get rid of them.”
