For this project I collaborated with my artistic partner, Alicja Kolinska, to design the stage for a production directed by Blazej Biegasiewicz, a young theatre director and student of the AST Academy.
The performance explored the turbulent relationship between Medea, her husband Jason, and their sons. Although Jason never appeared on stage, his presence was symbolized through a set of large, hyper-realistic eyeballs suspended above the actors, constantly watching and controlling the action. In the climactic moment, Medea brought this metaphor to a dramatic conclusion by pulling the eyes down and piercing them.
The production was staged at the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow, Poland.

“Do I not suffer? Am I not wronged?
Shall I not weep? My heart is torn.
I know indeed what evil I am about to do,
but passion overmasters my resolve,
and that is the cause of the greatest evils for humankind.”
